At King Centre Dental, the team conducts orthodontic treatment with Invisalign®. Invisalign doesn’t use archwires, brackets, and rubber bands. Instead, it gently applies pressure with a series of custom-crafted mouthpieces that fit snugly over your teeth.
What issues can orthodontics correct?
At King Centre Dental, the team uses orthodontic treatment to correct various issues, including:
- Crowding
- Crooked and overlapping teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Crossbite
- Overbite
- Underbite
You might also benefit from orthodontic treatment if you have an abnormal bite that affects your ability to speak or chew comfortably.
What does orthodontics involve?
At King Centre Dental, orthodontics treatment begins with an oral exam, a review of your dental health history, and a discussion of what you like and don’t like about your smile.
After gathering that information, your provider takes oral X-rays to assess the alignment of your teeth and jaw. If your provider detects any issues that might benefit from orthodontic treatment, they take digital scans of your mouth and upload them to a computer design program.
Your provider uses the program to develop a custom orthodontic treatment plan, mapping the movements of your teeth and jaw. After explaining the treatment process to you, your provider sends your impressions to a dental laboratory.
Technicians at the Invisalign lab use your scans to design your first set of Invisalign aligners. When they’re ready, you return to King Centre Dental and try them on.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
The length of time that orthodontic treatment takes depends on the issues addressed and your commitment to the care plan. Most individuals complete treatment in 12-18* months, but it may take longer. To ensure a quick, satisfactory outcome, wear your aligners for between 20-22 hours each day, only removing them to eat or brush and floss.
Every two or three weeks, you visit King Centre Dental for a check-up. At each check-up, you can transition to a new set of aligners that places slightly different pressure on your teeth and jaw.
